What is Variable Data?

Variable data printing (VDP) is a form of on-demand digital printing in which elements such as text, graphics and/or images may be changed from one printed piece to the next, without stopping the printing process. Using information from a database or external file, information such as name or gender can be used to drive variations in the printed pieces. For example, a set of postcards, each with the same basic layout, can be printed with a different name in the headline and different photo’s based on the gender of the recipient.

 

What is a PURL?

A personalized URL (PURL) contains the recipients name or company and a unique website that you choose for the specific campaign. For example, “johndoe.buymyproduct.com.” Utilizing the variable data technology, the PURL is printed onto the postcard or letter and when the recipient logs onto their personal webpage, they are welcomed by name. There are an infinite number of things that you can capture from there, but the most important part is that you are tracking the activity of your prospective or current client and are gaining valuable information at the same time.

For almost 19 years, Curley Direct was “Curley Direct Mail.” We built our business on helping businesses grow utilizing the extensive advertising power of direct mail. We may have expanded, but direct mail is still the core of our business and we know that it is one of the most effective ways to put your advertising dollars to work. Not only will we handle all of the work for you for your campaign, we will also save you on your postage costs because we do all of the work for the post office. From something as simple as a postcard to a letter or a complete appeal for fundraising organizations, we will address directly onto the piece (we do not use labels), handle all of your folding, inserting, collating and will match personalized letters to their envelopes. Additionally, we have the ability to place a live stamp on your envelope to achieve a more personal look.  Recently, we have made the transition to "Curley Direct" because we are more than just mail.  We are excited about the transition!
